Confidentiality

Groups are confidential and honoring of differences. These groups are trauma informed, meaning safe enough to work on what needs tending.

Why Group?

We are social creatures and do better when we participate with others around areas of mutual concern. We are meant to aide one another and to form caring connections. Groups offer support from others struggling with similar issues and feelings. Feedback from peers who are willing to be caring and honest with you and the supportive energy to change is why groups are so helpful.

Who attends Group?

People come of their own free will. Many come because they like the process of exploration that our groups provide. Some come to learn more about themselves and their interactions with others. Some come to experience community and support. Group members range in age between 21 and 80. Diversity welcome.

Many people come to group for years, some for the 12 week initial commitment. Groups normally have seasoned as well as new members.

What Happens in a group?

Every group session is different, lively or contemplative, meaningful and healing in its own way. Psychodrama is an experiential group action method that works with rituals of change. Concerns and themes emerge from the group warm ups. We work and play together, focusing on what challenges are coming forward for group members. We learn to work with with what difficulties arise, to co create changes that are needed and wanted, and to increase our own self awareness. As we open to the possibilities present we get into a flow, allowing us to practice and participate in living fuller lives. The work we do together shifts our perspectives and our choices, promoting flexibility and creativity. Learning about each other, we learn more about ourselves.  Professional facilitation keeps these groups safe, engaging and interactive.

Why a Psychodrama Group?

Because change and healing happens in group. Each Participant is the healing agent of the group. It takes a village and your process does relate to everyone else's. we are not alone. Being stuck is painful, and we all get unstuck and thrive in different ways. Our need to be listened to, witnessed, and interact with others, to care and be cared for, to support and be supported, to question and ask for feedback, is an essential aspect of being human. Group psychotherapy is the most effective method for initiating, improving and evaluating connections.

When action methods are introduced into a group, participants become more present, more aware, and as a consequence, more conscious. When we participate and try new things, it is possible to change the way we behave with others.
Awareness of ourselves and others increases our ability to respond and be responsible.  The process offers a creative way to move beyond old scripts, beliefs, or unconscious bonds to the past. Psychodrama is a therapeutic discipline that uses action methods, sociometry, role training, and group dynamics to assist people to take action in their lives, learn new roles and skills to express their innate and unique potential, and achieve a deep understanding of personal and social problems.

Commitment

To increase your commitment and curiosity about yourself and others and to allow this group work to work best for you, we ask that you make a time commitment. Weekly attendance is required for you to fully benefit from group experience. It takes this commitment not only for your own growth and development but for the good of the whole group. Warming up to group members, learning to speak from your own experience, giving and receiving care from group members takes practice, doing it is the key to change.

Action!

Life happens in action. Change happens one new step at a time. Learning to share from your real self and allowing others to experience your vulnerability as well as your strengths takes trust. We grow as a group by testing the waters of change. You will be supported and encouraged. The group will meet you where you are at, helping you under or inner stand that are you not alone. In the act of revealing your true self you will become more resilient, and more accessible to others. You will feel yourself connecting with others, in and out of the group, in more life-sustaining ways.

Hopes and Intentions? Some are…

♥ Showing up consistently for yourself, honoring whatever level of comfort, excitement, and exploration you bring with you or find in the group is quite enough.

♥ Participating in an exciting form of group therapy that utilizes action techniques and explores the importance of human connections and disconnections.

♥ Working on a personal issue, or issues that are just beneath the surface and hard to access on your own. The group works helps bring forward these harder to access places and allows for exploration and relief from stuck places and an opening into greater possibilities for ourselves and others.

♥ Learning to use your voice and hearing yourself and others begin to articulate the more vulnerable parts of ourselves, which often reveals personal strengths and values we were not quite aware of. Within what has been hidden lies great wealth. the treasure beyond treasures. Yourself.

♥ Being honest and respectful of yourself and others.

♥ Sharing the truth you carry in your heart of hearts when you feel it is safe to do so.

♥ Co-Creating a safe experience for yourself and others. For change to happen going outside our comfort zone and taking risks are necessary, but they are calculated risks created by you within a safe enough and witnessing environment.

♥ A willingness to try out new things, take risks and celebrate gains

♥ Explore roles that are emerging and roles that fragment your sense of self.
